Iran, with the mean elevation of 1,035 meters, has two major ranges of mountains called the Alborz and the Zagros. In addition to these ranges, there are mountainous regions in central and eastern Iran. Damavand, Alamkouh, Sabalan, Dena are some high peaks to mention.

The desert area is 175,000 km2, where the temperature can reach up to +71 during summer months. This desert is recognized and recorded as the hottest point on earth.
